Malus Golden Hornet

Golden Hornet is a classic ornamental crab apple tree valued for its graceful form, abundant white spring blossom and heavy crops of bright yellow fruits that persist well into winter. The tree develops a rounded to spreading canopy with fresh green foliage, providing seasonal interest from spring through to late winter. The small apples are firm and sharp, making them ideal for jellies, preserves and crab apple wine rather than fresh eating.

In spring, Golden Hornet produces masses of white flowers that are rich in pollen and nectar, making it highly beneficial for bees and other pollinators. It is tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions and performs best in fertile, well drained soil in a sunny position. Well suited to UK gardens, orchards and wildlife planting schemes, Golden Hornet combines outstanding ornamental value with strong ecological and environmental benefits.
