Salvia ‘Amistad’ – 2026

Salvia ‘Amistad’ is a striking perennial with deep green, aromatic foliage and long spikes of rich violet-purple flowers with black calyces. Blooming from summer into autumn, it provides a dramatic splash of colour in borders, containers, and wildlife-friendly gardens. The densely packed flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, enhancing the gardens ecological value. Its upright, bushy habit and vibrant blooms make it ideal for creating bold, architectural accents in mixed plantings.

It thrives in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil and is medium-maintenance, requiring occasional deadheading to prolong flowering and ensure a tidy appearance. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its long flowering season, vibrant colour, and ability to bring an exotic, dramatic flair to perennial borders and garden schemes.
