Heliconia angusta Red Christmas

Heliconia angusta Red Christmas is a compact, clumping tropical plant with lush, banana-like green foliage and striking red and cream flowers held upright through winter. The long-lasting blooms add colour at a time when many gardens are quiet and are attractive to nectar-feeding birds. It forms a neat, architectural clump rather than spreading aggressively. Ideal for sheltered gardens, feature planting, mass planting in frost-free areas, or large containers in courtyards and patios.

Soil: Well-prepared, well-drained moist soil.

Conditions: A location with morning sun is ideal avoiding the hot midday sun and a sheltered location to minimise leaf wind damage. It grows best in warm, frost-free climates.

Size: Height: 11.5m x width: 11.2m
