Astilbe arendsii ‘Gertrud Brix’ – 2026

Astilbe arendsii ‘Gertrud Brix’ is a compact perennial valued for its elegant plumes of soft pink flowers that bloom in midsummer above lush, finely divided green foliage. The feathery flower spikes provide a delicate, textured display, adding charm and colour to shaded borders, woodland gardens, or near water features. Its compact habit makes it ideal for mixed plantings or groupings, while the long-lasting blooms ensure sustained visual interest throughout the flowering season.

Thriving in humus-rich, consistently moist soil, it prefers partial to full shade and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Low-maintenance and reliable, ‘Gertrud Brix’ requires only cutting back spent stems after flowering and occasional mulching to maintain soil moisture. Its nectar-rich blooms attract pollinators, offering both ornamental and ecological benefits in shaded garden spaces.
