Dicentra spectabilis ‘Valentine’ – 2026

Dicentra spectabilis ‘Valentine’ is a hardy, herbaceous perennial celebrated for its large, heart-shaped, vibrant pink flowers that hang in graceful, pendant clusters from late spring to early summer. The arching flower stems rise above finely divided, blue-green foliage, adding striking vertical and textural interest to shaded borders, woodland gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other pollinators, supporting garden biodiversity.

Thriving in partial shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil, Dicentra spectabilis ‘Valentine’ benefits from removing spent flowers to maintain a tidy appearance and prolong flowering. Hardy and low-maintenance, it provides reliable early-season colour and structure, making it an excellent choice for shaded borders and woodland-style plantings.
