Dodecatheon meadia 8211 2026

Dodecatheon meadia is a hardy, herbaceous perennial valued for its nodding, star-shaped flowers in shades of pale pink to magenta with darker centres that bloom from late spring to early summer. The elegant, reflexed flowers rise above clumps of lance-shaped, green foliage, adding delicate movement and charm to shaded borders, woodland gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other pollinators, enhancing garden biodiversity.

Thriving in partial shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil, Dodecatheon meadia benefits from cutting back spent flowers to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage further growth. Hardy and relatively low-maintenance, it provides early-season interest and graceful floral displays, making it an excellent choice for woodland-style planting and shaded borders.
