Helleborus orientalis ‘Double Ellen Green’ – 2026

Helleborus orientalis ‘Double Ellen Green’ is an evergreen perennial admired for its double, pale green flowers that bloom from late winter into early spring, providing early-season colour and interest. The glossy, dark green foliage forms a dense clump, adding structure and texture to shaded borders, woodland gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its flowers attract early pollinators, enhancing ecological value while offering long-lasting ornamental appeal.

Thriving in partial shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil, Helleborus orientalis ‘Double Ellen Green’ is low-maintenance and hardy. Removing old leaves in late winter and cutting back spent flowers helps maintain a tidy appearance. Resilient and robust, this cultivar is ideal for naturalistic plantings or underplanting beneath trees and shrubs.
