Hemerocallis ‘Chewonski’ – 2026

Hemerocallis ‘Chewonki’ is a striking daylily cultivar renowned for its vibrant scarlet-red flowers accented by a contrasting yellow throat and eyezone. The blooms are slightly ruffled, adding a touch of elegance to their bold appearance. This mid-season bloomer, introduced in 1981, is a tetraploid variety, meaning it has a higher chromosome count, which often results in larger and more robust flowers. Its upright, clump-forming habit makes it an excellent choice for adding vertical interest to borders and mixed plantings.

Beyond its visual appeal, ‘Chewonki’ is valued for its resilience and ease of care. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is adaptable to a range of soil types, though it prefers well-drained conditions. The plant is relatively low-maintenance, requiring only occasional deadheading to promote continuous blooming. Its ability to re-bloom and its attractive foliage make it a reliable and charming addition to any garden.
