Hosta \’Fried Green Tomatoes\’ is a large, clump-forming perennial that offers both ornamental beauty and functional value in shaded gardens. A sport of H. \’Guacamole\’, it features broad, ovate, dark green leaves with a waxy coating that gives them a frosty appearance in spring. As the season progresses, the foliage matures to a rich green, showcasing prominent veining. This cultivar is appreciated for its substantial size and adaptability to various light conditions.

In late summer, \’Fried Green Tomatoes\’ produces tall scapes bearing large, fragrant, near-white flowers. These blooms rise above the foliage, adding vertical interest and attracting pollinators. The plant thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers partial shade to full sun. Its ability to tolerate sun and drought once established makes it a versatile choice for borders, containers, and ground covers.
