Iris germanica ‘Joanna’ – 2026

Iris germanica ‘Joanna’ is a historic bearded iris cultivar introduced between 1930 and 1939. This elegant variety features lavender flowers with a subtle purple hue, creating a soft and graceful appearance in the garden. The blooms are complemented by a delicate yellow beard, adding a touch of contrast to the gentle colour palette. ‘Joanna’ is a midseason bloomer, typically flowering from late spring to early summer, and is well-suited for adding vertical interest and subtle colour to garden beds or borders.

Beyond its ornamental appeal, ‘Joanna’ contributes to ecological diversity by attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. It thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sun, making it adaptable to various garden conditions. Its resilience and understated beauty make it a popular choice among gardeners seeking to enhance their landscapes with a touch of elegance and colour.
