Kniphofia Poco ‘Citron’

Kniphofia Poco Citron starts off lime green, opens into zesty lemon yellow, and matures to a soft butter-cream, creating a beautiful colour transition as the flowers age. Youll get heaps of nectar-rich blooms through summer and autumn, bringing bees and birds into the garden.Bred for a compact habit, Poco Citron has very short, grassy foliage that forms a neat clump while holding the flower spikes proudly above. After the flowering season, the strappy leaves naturally die back, giving winter plants a chance to shine.Perfect for containers, borders, rock gardens, dry river beds and mass plantings, Poco Citron is an easy-care way to add bright colour and texture to the garden.

Kniphofia ‘Poco Citron’, commonly known as a dwarf variety of the Red Hot Poker, is a compact and striking perennial that adds a bright splash of colour to garden borders and patio containers. Its vibrant flower spikes transition from lime-green to lemon-yellow, eventually fading to cream. The contrast between its grassy, mid-green foliage and tall flower spikes makes it an excellent choice for gardens requiring low-maintenance yet high-impact plants. This plant also works well in coastal, cottage, and informal garden settings, providing a long-lasting display of colours throughout the summer.

This dwarf perennial reaches up to 40 cm in height and spread, making it ideal for smaller spaces, rock gardens, and even containers. Kniphofia ‘Poco Citron’ thrives in full sun and needs moist but well-drained soil to perform at its best. The plant is hardy, able to survive even severe UK winters down to -15 C (H5). With minimal maintenance, such as occasional deadheading and ensuring its not overly wet in winter, this plant is a reliable and long-lasting option for gardeners.
