Lysimachia punctata – 2026

Lysimachia punctata, commonly known as Yellow Loosestrife, is a robust perennial that adds a burst of vibrant colour to any garden. Its upright stems are adorned with lance-shaped, light green leaves, creating a lush backdrop for the striking yellow flowers that bloom profusely from late spring to late summer. These cup-shaped flowers, approximately 2.5 cm wide, emerge in the upper leaf axils, forming dense clusters that attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Native to Central and Southern Europe, this plant has naturalised in various regions, thriving in moist, well-drained soils.

This plant’s vigorous growth habit makes it an excellent choice for creating bold, sunny borders or filling gaps in perennial beds. Once established, it requires minimal maintenance and is relatively drought-tolerant. However, gardeners should be mindful of its spreading nature, as it can form dense clumps over time. Ideal for full sun to partial shade, Lysimachia punctata is a valuable addition to any garden, offering both aesthetic appeal and ecological benefits.
