Magnolia ‘Black Tulip’

This spectacular, small deciduous tree or large shrub is renowned for its breathtaking, goblet-shaped flowers that are a deep, dramatic burgundy-purple, appearing almost black in certain lights. The heavy, textured blooms appear on bare, structural branches before the large, ovate green leaves emerge, creating a striking silhouette.

To protect the magnificent blooms from cold damage, plant this Magnolia in a sheltered location away from strong winds and harsh morning sun. It requires fertile, moist, but well-drained soil that is neutral to slightly acidic, and it resents having its roots disturbed, so choose its permanent home carefully.

The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
