Marion De Lyon Sweet Chestnut

Marion De Lyon Sweet Chestnut is a vigorous and long-lived deciduous tree, prized for its large, edible nuts and striking autumn foliage. In late spring it produces inconspicuous flowers that develop into glossy brown nuts in autumn, providing both culinary and wildlife value. Its broad, spreading canopy offers shade and structure, while supporting birds, small mammals, and beneficial insects, making it an excellent addition to larger gardens, orchards, or parkland.

Well suited to UK conditions, Marion De Lyon Sweet Chestnut thrives in fertile, well-drained soils with full sun exposure. It is hardy, relatively low maintenance once established, and responds well to light pruning to maintain shape and health. This variety combines ornamental, ecological, and productive benefits, providing seasonal interest, wildlife support, and a reliable harvest of nutritious nuts.
