Monarda ‘Cambridge Scarlet’ – 2026

Monarda ‘Cambridge Scarlet’ is a striking perennial that brings a burst of vibrant red to any garden setting. Its dense clusters of tubular scarlet flowers bloom from July to September, creating a dramatic display atop upright stems. The aromatic, bronze-tinged foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the fiery blooms, enhancing both visual and sensory appeal. This cultivar is particularly valued for its resistance to powdery mildew, making it a reliable and low-maintenance choice for UK gardens. Its upright, tidy habit ensures it fits beautifully into borders, mixed plantings, and pollinator-friendly areas.

Ecologically, ‘Cambridge Scarlet’ is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, helping to support local biodiversity and garden wildlife. The aromatic leaves, reminiscent of mint, can also be used to flavour teas or add subtle fragrance to outdoor spaces. Preferring full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, it establishes quickly and thrives in most UK garden conditions with minimal care, offering both ornamental value and environmental benefits.
