Newton Wonder Apple

The Newton Wonder apple is a traditional English cooking variety, originating from a chance seedling discovered in Derbyshire in the 1870s. Known for its large, attractive fruit with yellow skin flushed with red and orange, Newton Wonder has firm, slightly acidic flesh that mellows over time, offering a balanced tang ideal for cooking. Ready for harvest in October, the apples store well through winter, improving in sweetness and flavour with time. Suitable for Pollination Group 4, Newton Wonder requires a compatible pollinator from groups 3, 4, or 5 to set fruit. With a mature height of 35 meters and a spread of 34 meters, this variety is an excellent choice for those seeking a versatile apple for culinary use and cider making.
