Papaver orientale Marlene is a charming oriental poppy, admired for its large, rose-pink blooms with a contrasting dark central blotch. The delicate, ruffled petals soften its bold form, bringing both elegance and impact to early summer borders. Held on strong, upright stems above a mound of coarse, hairy green foliage, it is a reliable choice for adding soft colour to cottage gardens and mixed perennial plantings.

This hardy perennial flourishes in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, reliably returning year after year. Fully suited to the UK climate, it is easy to grow and requires minimal maintenance, benefiting from being cut back after flowering to encourage fresh growth. Its open, nectar-rich blooms attract pollinators, adding ecological value alongside their ornamental beauty. Papaver orientale Marlene is a graceful yet striking addition to the summer garden.
