Papaver orientale ‘Doubloons’ – 2026

Papaver orientale Doubloons is a striking oriental poppy known for its large, double blooms in rich coppery-orange shades. The petals are softly ruffled and layered, creating a full, textured appearance that stands out in early summer borders. Each flower is supported on strong, upright stems above a base of coarse, hairy green foliage, making it a bold and reliable focal point in mixed plantings or cottage garden schemes.

This perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, where it will flower reliably each year. Fully hardy in the UK, it requires minimal care beyond cutting back spent foliage to encourage fresh growth. Its long-lasting, vibrant blooms attract pollinators, adding both ornamental and ecological value to the garden, while its architectural form ensures it remains a standout feature in borders and beds.
