Papaver orientale ‘Garden Glory’ – 2026

Papaver orientale Garden Glory is a striking oriental poppy, admired for its large, bright scarlet-red blooms with a deep, dark central blotch that provides dramatic contrast in early summer borders. The cup-shaped flowers are supported on tall, sturdy stems above a clump of coarse, hairy green foliage, making it a bold and eye-catching addition to mixed plantings or cottage gardens. Its vibrant colour and strong form ensure it remains a standout feature wherever it is planted.

This perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, where it will flower reliably year after year. Fully hardy in the UK, it requires minimal maintenance beyond cutting back spent foliage to encourage fresh growth. Its long-lasting, vivid blooms attract pollinators, adding both ornamental and ecological value, while the architectural seed pods provide additional interest after flowering. Papaver orientale Garden Glory is a dependable and colourful choice for summer garden displays.
