Persicaria bistorta – 2026

Persicaria bistorta is a hardy perennial admired for its elegant, dense spikes of soft pink flowers that appear from late spring into summer. The blooms rise above broad, lance-shaped green leaves, adding vertical interest and a gentle splash of colour to borders, cottage gardens, or naturalistic planting schemes. Its long flowering period provides both ornamental value and a rich nectar source for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, supporting garden wildlife.

Thriving in moist, well-drained soil, Persicaria bistorta prefers full sun to partial shade and forms clumps that are easy to maintain. Cutting back old growth in late winter encourages fresh spring foliage and flowers. Well suited to the UK climate, it combines reliability, long-lasting colour, and ecological benefit, making it a versatile and rewarding choice for a wide range of garden designs.
