Pulmonaria rubra ‘David Ward’ – 2026

Pulmonaria rubra ‘David Ward’ is a clump-forming perennial producing rich crimson-red, funnel-shaped flowers in early spring above a rosette of fresh green foliage. The flowers provide early-season colour and a vibrant focal point in borders, rockeries, or shaded containers. Its low, compact habit makes it suitable for underplanting shrubs or planting along shaded pathways. This cultivar attracts early-season pollinators, offering both ecological and ornamental value while enhancing the visual appeal of spring gardens.

It thrives in partial shade to full shade in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Low-maintenance once established, it benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Although non-native to the UK, it provides reliable spring colour and structural interest in shaded garden settings.
