Saponaria ‘Max Frei’

‘Max Frei’ is a fantastic, trailing Soapwort that forms a dense, low-growing carpet of dark green, semi-evergreen foliage. In midsummer, this mat is completely smothered by a profusion of small, bright purplish-pink, star-shaped flowers, creating a vibrant, cascading splash of colour ideal for rock gardens or trailing over low walls.

This low-maintenance alpine plant requires excellent drainage and thrives in poor, rocky, or sandy soils in a position that receives full sun. After the main flush of pink flowers has faded, shear the plant back lightly with scissors to encourage a neat, compact habit and occasionally a second, lighter round of blooms.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
